What Happens When You Lender a Stock and Sell It?
The problem here is you borrowed the stock and then sold it. You have to go back in the open market and buy the stock to give it back. But how do you do that? You only have 20 dollars in your pocket. The stock's now 300. Now, in a panic, deep looks like a genius. They shorted positions about 300 % of the available stock. Then they're bidding against each other to buy back the stock they borrowed because there isn't enough stock to buy.
