Marney chesterton says there's plenty of evidence that often our attitude to the future is not based on an objective assessment. Scientists researching optimism have discovered that a whapping 80 % of us have an optimistic bias. Optimists, myself included here, misjudge a lot of things, including how long it will take to travel between the too many social functions they've committed to. For the true rationalists and pessimists, optimists tend to do better in life. Evidence suggests that they earn more, they have more friends, they're less prone to disease.
