The flamingo was supposedly virginia hill's nickname, by some reports, given to her by joe ebstein, in others, by segull. This is more or less the impression you get from watching the 19 91 film bug written by james towback based on a book i've read called we only kill each other. A recent biography of wilkerson, written by his son suggests that wilkerson came up with the name the flamingo going the exotic bird route in an effort to mimic the stork club.
