The meaning is subtle because we struggle to decode it. The church being the church puts funny names on everything. So i know where my knave and my chancellor is, but most people don't. And there's a wonder that my seventh century church in northampton has these amazing saxon arches made of am called all saints bricksworth. But you also see things that absolutely speak to to to day.
