The Welsh and the English in the Civil War
It is difficult to access what non-elite individuals are thinking and doing at this time. What we can say I think is that where we can access those individuals they don't look particularly different from those above them shall we say. We also know for example that they respond enthusiastically to ideas of ancient British heritage. Some individuals tell us that you know a clergyman who was lauding the Saxon derivation of England. So our capacity to talk about these individuals is limited by our source materials but even then we can say some important thingsI think about the character of our society.
