The trial was going to be about the legal definition of insanity. This was a really nuanced thing because we look at Charles Manson, right? He's got the swastika carved in his head. And we say that man is an insane person. But you look at Jeffrey Dahmer and you look at someone who is very quiet. He doesn't look you in the eye. He absolutely does not answer questions with any more than a monosyllabic answer. To anything. The media from out of town were examining our city to see how all of this could have happened. It was kind of offensive to a lot of us because we're like, wait it's not our fault.
