The Evolution of the Andean Leaf-Eared Mouse

The species here is the Andean leaf-eared mouse, found in the Andean's mountains. Wind speeds can reach 200 kilometers an hour and there's less than half the oxygen available at sea level. For such reasons, these extreme elevations were previously thought to be completely uninhabitable by mammals. So giving a lie to that uninhabitability is that critter that we see in front of us now.
