The Rise and Fall of the Temporary Home for Lost and Starving Dogs

The first official rescue center is opened in London in 1860 by a relatively obscure woman called Mary Tealby. She hopes to reunite lost and starving dogs with their families. What happens is she becomes overwhelmed because there's a huge population of starving dogs. Now Mary's home becomes what we know as Battersea dogs home today. There's a direct line between what Mary's trying to do in Holloway in 1860 and it becoming Batterseadogshome.
