The first half of miguel de cervante's landmark novel, don quixote was published in 16 o five. The book is widely considered to be the first modern novel set apart from earlier texts. It follows a minor nobleman named alonzo kix no who lives in a central region of spain known as la mancha. He becomes obsessed with chivalric romance tales and sets out on his own gallant adventures.
