What's the Problem With the Wall Garden?
There are a few problems with the wall garden system, especially in academic journals as it exists today. One is that the people who do the work of editing and publishing and writing the journal articles aren't the same group of people who are getting the economic benefits from it. Once you type in your password or identify yourself as somebody who can pass through the wall garden, you're also identifying yourself with a whole set of data.
