The US Banking System Is Not a Funding Crisis
The US banking system is clearly fine under that backdrop. There's no problem at all. The funding structure of banks worldwide is actually very difficult. What we're likely to see coming out of this crisis is a significant increase in the size of the Federal Reserve balance sheet. That may be if you like a virtue from the government's point of view. It tells us one thing, if I'm correct, where structurally the level of inflation in the world economy, or at least in the West, is going to be higher than we've been thinking. We can dance on the head of a pin and say, is this QE or is this not QE? My view is it is
