Dr Stephen Campman's staff have never accidentally overdosed whilst investigating the deaths of those who die suddenly. The naloxone stayed in their pockets or bags and they've never had to use it. But in 2021, the last year for which reliable figures were available, the antidote to fentanyl wasn't to hand for 814 people in the county. They overdosed and breathed their last. In the last couple of years, there have been so many people that died like that, that we couldn't keep up.
