The Tree of Commonwealth
Edmund dudley was imprisoned in the tower of london for more than a year. During that time, he wrote his famous book called "the tree of commonwealth" The notion of a social tree symbolizes society or the kingdom is an old idea from mediaeval times. But what dudley does a bit differently is he says the king or the crown, is not part of the tree. Rather, the king is a sort of separate entity unto himself who hovers above it and harmonizes the parts.
