The IRS's Service Industry Tip Compliance Agreement
The IRS has a proposal to counter this. It's called the Service Industry Tip Compliance Agreement, or Sitka. The idea is that if you kind of check all the boxes for the IRS, they will give you some level of audit protection for the employer. And it would replace three different programs that currently try to account for tip income.
