The End of Boston Schools

Federal control over Boston schools ended in 1985, 11 years after it started. The majority of students in Boston schools were then minorities. Today, half the population is white, but only 14% of the students in the school district are white. In 1916, Boston ranked as the most unequal city in the United States and racial stratification still shape its urban geography.
