Cryptocurrency and the War in Ukraine
A Russian threat actor tracked as Ember Bear, also known as UAC0056 or LOREC53, used a web shell installed in December 2021 to install three back doors. The state's service of special communications and information protection of Ukraine described the incident as a failed attempt by Russia to stay visible in cyberspace. A study by recorded future concludes that Russia's invasion of Ukraine appears to have fractured gang land along national and political lines.
