Haiti was a former french slave colony san damang, and it became independent after a revolution in the late eighteenth century. But haite's future was really determined by the fact that it had been a slave society that had essentially emancipated itself. So i love talking about this history of ofhati because, you know, it's a meditation on how freedom happens outside of the emancipation process. And hayti proves that.
