Tristan Harris: TikTok is almost like the new telecommunications infrastructure of the world. If you allow it to be, would you allow a Chinese company to become or own AT&T and Verizon? No, we have laws against that. But if you suddenly say, this is a Chinese Communist Party influenced company that is running the communications of the entire Western world, it doesn't matter where the data is stored. It can create massive mental health problems for people. And so far as I understand it, ByteDance has shipped that beautification filter to the US, but they don't ship that one domestically in China.
