Is the Neural Correlation of Consciousness a Kind of Identity Theory?
The attempt for either of them is a kind of identity theory to try to find something in the brain that is with a strong is, and like if and only if, it is there. So why is not a representation of consciousness with neural correlates, whether it's circuitry or whatever, another kind of identity theories? Well, it is in a sense, and a kind of Identity Theory. But it's not one you take literally as saying that this bit of the brain or this activity of the brain has the properties which we're trying to understand.
