Maoism in China - What Is the Difference?

A key Maoist policy that laid the groundwork for the later capitalist boom was this state squeezing of the countryside to fuel rapid industrialization. But there was also a compensation of the peasants by providing substantial health care, other welfare policies which made the rural population a healthy and educated one. The literacy rate of the Chinese countryside is among the highest in the developing world in the Mao period. After the one-child policy, they seem to be running out of this labor as young people in the countryside are declining.
