Russia has been hit with sanctions over its invasion of ukraine. Russia's central bank is believed to have lost half of its global foreign exchange reserves. This suggests that puten has made a massive geo political miscalculation about the nature of the global financial system, writes Andrew Hammond. He says it will also permanently undermine the widespread assumption that global banking is a merely neutral and rules base system. But still, what pereseeing is a significant vindication of the underlying scepticism of traditional banking that drives many in crypto, he adds.
