Is There a Newer Thing for Women in Christianity?
The older mystics that we hear about are often men and then in the sort of particularly the 14th century, 13th and 14th century get much more, many more examples of women being spoken about. And it's partly because women are getting more access to religious literature but it's also partly to do with this shift I think which is that women were often spoken about in the Middle Ages as being more emotional, being more visual so men are associated with reason and intellect and women are associated with emotion, feeling and the flesh in the body.
