Unidentified man recently found a treasure trove of more than 700 gold coins, believed to be worth more than a million dollars. Southerners might have buried the coins before and during the Civil War to protect them from invading armies. The finding, which is now being referred to as the Great Kentucky Horde, includes gold coins minted before andDuring the war. At the time, Kentucky was declared a neutral state.
