The Supreme Court's Decision in Favor of a Trans Woman in Her 50s
This week in gender, we are fully ignoring the shenanigans of the United States Supreme Court. We instead focus on Japan's Supreme Court, which ruled last week in favor of a trans woman who wanted to be able to pee in a woman's restroom near her office. In Japan, trans people can only legally change their gender if they are single, if they do not have children under the age of 20, and if they are specifically sterilized via bottom surgery. This is all obviously against international best practices. It's also against the guidelines of the World Health Organization.
