Draper and White

Draper and white are the architects of the conflict thesis. They argue that science and religion are fundamentally opposed to each other. In his early lectures on chemistry o the students, for example, he sounds rather like a natural theologian. Draper spoke of the laws of nature as designed and set in place by an almighty god, the creator. He argued that this paganization of christianity had resulted in the tyranny of theology over thought. Those who had known what religion was in apostolic days would be surprised by what was now engrafted upon religion.
