The Trinity Test
Trinity test was the largest explosion in human history at that time, over 10 times greater than the power of the Halifax explosion. The sand underneath the bomb had been turned into a glassy substance which people collected for years until it was made illegal by the US government. Trinitite is still legal and you can purchase small samples of it online today. Today, the Trinity test site is a National Historic Site, and there's a monument that was erected in 1965 at ground zero.
