Passion is like the core motivator of the type. It's usually unconscious and that's the tricky part but it's a emotional motivation. Now the root meaning of the word passion is to suffer. So it's a little bit like what keeps the underlying suffering going. But of course the personality is a structure that grows up to keep us from being aware of suffering.
