KGB agents were trained to deploy disinformation tactics in the West. They would plant a false story, usually in an obscure newspaper and then tip off mainstream media. A second thing they did was just fabricate documents about whatever it is. The KGB also employed female spies who were very professionally trained to honey trap gullible Western men.
