I was thinking about all the friends that throughout my book, like for the surrealists and people like Lebena Himid and Maud Salter or something. I often sit for Chantel Joffee, and it was actually amazing kind of reading a bit like what does it like to be on the other end of being a sitter? It's just always an odd relationship because yeah, there is a power balance and it goes both ways and it's very confrontational. There's some really interesting sitters in your book, like the first example of like a black sitter being painted by a woman. And so many great ones and I probably should have made a list.
