Psychoanalysis in America in the 1930s

Freud's visit to America established a small bridgehead for psychoanalysis in America which remained quite tiny into the the 1930s. Their numbers were augmented as the 30s moved on by the Nazis because the Nazis tried to suppress psychoanalysis and many of its practitioners were Jewish. So many fled some to England including Freud and his daughter but then when World War II broke out American soldiers like their counterparts elsewhere began to break down.
