The Alhambra

The Alhambra is a mystical building built in stone. The architects of this place made no attempt to impress by vulgarities of scale. Throughout the palaces one sees a dense interweave of calligraphy, geometric decoration and arabesque or foliage motifs. Those who planned the court of the lions seem to have designed it as a paradise or anti-chamber to the true paradise that lay on the other side of death.
