Regan promised an even more aggressive and reactionary foreign policy all over the place, including in southern africa. His focus was not eastern europe, where roll back would have meant war with the soviet union. Defeats of the 19 seventies had occurred, viet nam, afghanistan, angola, ethiopia, zimbabwa, nicaragua, granada. And there were quite serious proposals within the regin administration to actually invade cuba,. which cuba took very credibly.
