The Grotesque, the Idea of the Grotesque
The grotesque was a kind of synthesis, like you couldn't have a one position without recognizing the other side of the equation. And so we see that in some of ther work, some of the artistic works done under the banner of the grotesque. I mentioned a little bit of the a notion of photo mantage or photo colage that hant worked with in particular. But this effort to expose, kind of h janet's face, both sides of things, to sort of a bring to the surface a kind of the unity that people like freelander saw inthings that might otherwise seem complete opposites.
