The gods in heaven became worried about the consequences of Agni's actions. They went to King Indra and said, Lord, aren't you aware of what Agni is doing to the Khandava forest? If he continues for long, no creature in the forest would stay alive,. You must do something to stop him. But as they tried to escape, Arjuna's arrows stopped them on their tracks while the fire roasted them to their death. An Asura named Maya used to live in that forest. When Krishna was about to hurt his Sudarshan chakra to kill Maya, the giant threw himself at the feet of Arjuna and cried. Oh prince, I am Maya
