What Are the Characteristics of the New Left Populists?
In some countries, old left institutions have been replaced by new left oppositions. In an editorial for the New Left Review, Susan Watkins called these new groups radical social democrats. Most of their programs are pretty box-standard Keynesianism and sort of countercyclical spending. So I don't think you can even assimilate them to the Communist parties we saw in the 20th century. But at the same time, there's also risk-creating parties which are highly digitalized that are quite fluid and impermanent.
