The idea of witchcraft among the azande people is a difficult refractory notion but i think it's an idea that's well worth playing with and we should probably do a whole show on that. imagine you are a scientist in Lovecraft's story at the mountains of madness trying to figure out what this lost city is where it comes from who built it etc. You're looking for the four Aristotelian causes including agent cause, divining cause, weather order or whatever so let's say you answer all these questions satisfactorily and promptly in keeping with Lovecraft's stories you likely go insane from the answers.
