What Did Your Parents Teach You About Getting Better?

I don't remember ever being explicitly told or taught how to improve anything. It's just kind of the more you i sat down with something, so let's say it was lines from a play,. And eventually i started asking myself, whell, shoot, how does that actually work? Is there a process behind that? Would there be a way to kind of make that efficient more effective? One thing led to another, that led me into teaching. So i'd say, ok, well, let me work with students and see what i can find there. That led me into the laboratory, that led us back to academia.
