The Role of Race in American Drug Policy

Roxanne Jones: One of the pre conditions for that moment of sanity in american drug policy was civil rights activism and second wave feminism. She says racial stereotypes had powered that approach since the late nineteenth century with chinese emigrants and southern eastern european emigrants, it was all there to power it. Jones: Now we're starting to see how race has played a big role in America's failed drug policies. We've been too focused on other issues like gun control; now people are looking at this as an issue where they can take their own lives if they don't do what doctors say.
