How to Take Your Japanese Tableware

Some dishes require a bath before you're going to be using them, particularly ones that are unglazed or have a crackly kind of glaze where there's exposed clay. You do need to give them this bath in an oily, starchy liquid. Those kinds of dishes also obviously can't go in a dishwasher. If you don't wash a whole lot of rice or you want something else instead, I would say cornstarch and a little bit of vegetable oil in the water. Rice has natural oils in it and it will take care of it. There's things like lacquer, if the temperature is too dry, it will crack and you need to be able to moist
