The Effects of Training on Bone Growth
The thickness of the bones actually is influenced by training. In your arm that you're hitting the tennis ball with, that creates vibrations in the bones which then releases chemicals that now stimulate bone growth. So if we take x-rays of tennis players, the arm that they are holding the tennis racket has much thicker bones than the left arm. Even the arteries are growing to allow for more blood with oxygen to circulate. And we also see more capillaries surrounding those muscles that need a lot of oxygen to be able to sustain running or swimming and other activities.
