Cardozo's Opposition to the Military Regime
Cardozo would become the leading intellectual opponent to the military regime, but not at all as a radical leftist. He made his way into the opposition and led a sort of thoroughly liberal opposition to authoritarianism. And then, ultimately, after the transition to democracy, he served two terms as brazil's rather ne liberal president in the mid 19 nineties.
