The Disadvantages of Labour in the 1980s
Labour parties have always been a broad church. In the 1980s, that hating Thatcher or being opposed to Thatcher is not enough glue to stick those different things together into one coherent party. I think partly Labour's never been very good at understanding why people don't vote for them so they tend to blame stupid selfish people for not voting for them rather than looking at themselves. So it became one or other factions problem. One or other faction was responsible for keeping the Conservatives in power.
