The Queen's Role in the Special Relationship

The first time that i met the queen was visiting london. She reminded me very much of my grandmother, not just in appearance, but also in manner. Very gracious, but also no nonsense, wry sense of humour. I think the queen has been enormously important in the special relationship. Sometimes it's because she isn't the prime minister, she doesn't come trailing all sorts of political baggage with her. But she is and has, if you like, part of ta sort of living texture of the relationship. Now there's a new king the united kingdom, king charles the third. And this as a sort of magic ot, both majesty and humility.
