In the aftermath of that, the FBI realized that its background check system had screwed up and that it had allowed Dylan Roof to get a gun. So what Comey does is he pulls all of the FBI beat reporters into a room at the FBI. He walked everybody through like the step by step. And in this case, here's where it went wrong. It's both like transparency, but it's also like incredible savvy to understand how to protect that institution.
