Heinlein's the Martian Chronicles
Heinlein was the first person really in this genre, which was very low and very minor. He also targeted young adult readers with a whole series of books focused around young protagonists. Heinlein's Starship Troopers is a very divisive book because it kind of argues that America should be a militaristic society. So you get someone like Ray Bradbury, who's much more identified with a kind of softer right-wing approach.
