In Louisiana, football was life. Every moment was 'the fourth quarter.' Their coach wouldn't let them drink water. He'd pour it into their hands and tell them to open their hands and let the water run through. It was no easy feat, and it made it hard to eat. And maybe it was a little sadistic. Though it was tough, it prepared Vinnie for college ball (and in ways, for life). It was usually only this tough during hell week. They had two-a-days for about two weeks. These days, there are rules that prohibit this because kids used to die in the South from heat exhaustion and dehydration. Nothing is this important that kids should die for it. But Vinnie has carried the discipline he learned in football throughout his life. GOING SLOW IN THE GYM She's been following Vinnie's advice. Overall, it's been slow going. More reps at lower weights. But then Gina realized it got too easy and added some weight. That's when you know to add more weight! In a lot of ways, Gina is doing something different than most of the people in the gym and she might get some looks, but she sticks to it and has seen results. It is OKAY to go slow.
