The Relationship Between the Chicago City Government and the Illinois State

In New York, we're completely dependent upon New York state to authorize taxation of any significance. The city is basically a creature of the state. Like many other American cities, gentrification is a huge issue and it's one that the Johnson and mayoral team will have to take on. There's no rent control in the city of Chicago or rent stabilization. That's a major issue for the city as housing costs all over the city are rising at the same times.
