The Human Microbiome
The human microbiome is made up of a variety of different classes or phyla of bacteria. The composition of the microbiota was identified by 16S-RRNA sequencing, discerning over 12,000 species. Currently, estimates that one third of the microbiome is consistent among humans with high variance in the other two thirds. A newborn's food is also highly impactful on when their microbiome shifts into a more adult-like state.
