Cosmic Energy Malware
The malware dubbed cosmic energy was uploaded to virus total in December 2021 by a user with a Russian IP address. It joins a highly specialized group of malware applications such as stuck-snet industrial and trices all purpose-built for industrial systems. Russia typically doesn't attack themselves so the likelihood that cosmic energy was maliciously deployed into another Russian Industrial control system is very low. There are indicators of compromise things you can hunt for in a threat environment like an oil sector critical infrastructure.
