What Is the Intent of the Mirai Botnet?
Three students out of Rutgers University in New Jersey released the source code to Mirai on GitHub. The intention here was that by releasing it, they knew other people would pick it up and they thought they would be able to like hide in the noise. Even today, February 2023, so seven years later, Mirai continues to persist and be successful as a weapon.
